Vol. 498 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

John McGuinness

Question:

228 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason for the delay in calling a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny to the Mater Hospital, Dublin 7, for a heart operation; the reason he was given so little time to attend the hospital when he was contacted almost two months ago; and the reason he has had no contact since. [26295/98]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in this instance is the statutory responsibility of the Mater Hospital. I have asked the chief executive officer of the hospital to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
