Deirdre Clune

Question:

286 Ms Clune asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will provide funding to Cork Simon Community for its proposed development for transition accommodation in order to address the cycle of homelessness; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26738/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 264 and 286 together.

I received, on 25 November last, a proposal from the Cork Simon Community for funding for a resettlement project for homeless people. The proposal is being examined in my Department in conjunction with Cork Corporation which is responsible for expenditure under section 10 of the Housing Act, 1988 in relation to the accommodation of homeless persons.
