Vol. 498 No. 1

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Nora Owen

Question:

284 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the allocations for public housing to each local authority area for 1997 and 1998; the number of houses to be built from these allocations for 1997 and 1998; the number of houses completed and let from the 1997 and 1998 allocations; and the number of houses purchased and let from these allocations. [26718/98]

Statements showing the number of housing starts authorised for each local authority for 1997 and 1998 are available in the Oireachtas Library.

Information on the number of houses commenced or acquired by local authorities in 1997 and to the end of September in 1998 is contained in my Department's Housing Statistics Bulletin for the September Quarter, 1998, — copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library.

The number of first time lettings by local authorities in relation to house completions is compiled on an annual basis and information is contained in the Annual Housing Statistics Bulletin for 1997 in respect of 1997. Information for 1998 will be published in the Annual Housing Statistics Bulletin for 1998. Information is not available on the breakdown of lettings between purchased and constructed houses.
