Question:

300 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the number of people receiving housing rent supplements in each health board area; the cost in each area; and the number of houses, apartments and so on involved in each area. [26713/98]

Statistics on the total amount of rent supplement paid under the supplementary welfare allowance scheme and the number of recipients are available to November 1998 in respect of seven out of eight health boards.

Statistics relating to the eighth, the Eastern Health Board, are available up to November 1998 for some parts of that board's functional area and up to July 1998 for the remaining parts.

The information sought regarding the numbers of houses and apartments involved is not available.

A detailed breakdown is presented on the attached tabular statement.
