Vol. 498 No. 1

Written Answers. - Wards of Court.

Alan Shatter

Question:

329 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans, if any, he has to introduce legislation to update the existing legislation that applies to wards of court; and the consideration, if any, given by him to reforming the law in this area. [26625/98]

The law in the area of wards of court has been updated from time to time in recent years. The most recent examples of legislative changes are contained in the Powers of Attorney Act, 1996 and the Children Act, 1997. The law in this area is being kept under review and the details of any further legislative changes will be announced in the normal way.
