Vol. 498 No. 1

Written Answers. - Disability in Sport.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

337 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation when the task force on people with disability in sport will issue a report; if an interim report has been published; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26486/98]

The people with a disability task force was established as a sub-committee of the Irish Sports Council in June 1997. The aim of the task force is to develop proposals for initiatives to enhance the participation of people with a disability in sport. It provided an interim update on progress to the Sports Council last July but no interim report has been prepared for publication. The task force expects to complete its deliberations and present its report to the Irish Sports Council in spring 1999.
