Vol. 498 No. 1

Written Answers. - Sports Funding.

Michael Creed

Question:

339 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he will provide funding for the resurfacing of a running track and other runs at the regional sports complex at the Cork Institute of Technology. [26581/98]

An application for funding from the Cork Institute of Technology was considered by my Department in the context of the 1998 round of grant allocations under the sports capital programme. However, the application was unsuccessful.

The sports capital programme has been under review by my Department for the past few months. When the review is completed, which I expect will be very shortly, details of the revised programme will be widely publicised and it will be open to clubs and organisations such as the Cork Institute of Technology to apply for funding under the new programme.
