72 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the plans, if any, his Department has to deal with the shortage of crewmen in the whitefish boats sector; if he will indicate the reasons for this development; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24463/98]
I have already announced my intention to set up a task force on training and employment in the fishing fleet. The task force which will be industry driven, will examine the barriers to employment in the sector and will assess all the educational, social, demographic, economic and training factors affecting employment. I will be announcing the composition of and detailed terms of reference for the task force shortly.
