163 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if anybody, on his behalf, or with his knowledge, has given any advance commitments in respect of national lottery funding towards the provision of facilities in the sporting or recreational area in regard to either major or lesser facilities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The sports capital programme has been under review by my Department for the past few months. I have just received the report of the review group which I am examining at present. I hope to advertise the new programme shortly and it will then be open to clubs and organisations to apply for funding.
While I have indicated in certain cases that consideration was being given to increasing the level of grant aid already allocated, no advance commitments in respect of funding have been made.
