Vol. 498 No. 3

Written Answers - Road Haulage.

Michael Ferris

Question:

39 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if a satisfactory means of prosecuting out-of-State hauliers for road transport offences in the State has been agreed with the Attorney General; if this will be included in the new road transport Bill; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [26898/98]

Provisions will be included in the Road Transport Bill to allow for the enforcement of the Road Transport Acts against out-of-State hauliers. These will be similar to the provisions in sections 9 and 18 of the recently enacted Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road Act, 1998, No. 43 of 1998.
