Vol. 498 No. 3

Written Answers - Dublin Traffic Management.

Dick Spring

Question:

45 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 72 of 10 November, there has been any further progress in relation to the implementation of the Dublin Transport Office short-term action plan; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [26924/98]

I am pleased to confirm that Exchequer funding for the remaining 100 buses to which I referred in my previous reply has been provided in the 1999 Estimates. This means that approval has now been given to Dublin Bus for the acquisition of all the 150 buses recommended in the DTO short-term action plan.

I understand that progress is also being made on other elements of the short-term action plan. This is being overseen by the Dublin Transportation Office and is a matter for my colleague the Minister for the Environment and Local Government.
