Vol. 498 No. 3

Written Answers - Light Rail Project.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

61 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the number of meetings held to date by the light rail advisory action group; if the group has reported any perceived difficulties to her; if she has appointed consultants to advise on a public private partnership in relation to any section of the Dublin light rail project; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [26920/98]

The light rail advisory/action group had its first meeting yesterday, Wednesday 9 December 1998 and as such it would be premature to expect reports from it at this stage. However, I can again confirm that the main priority for the group is to ensure that the development of the expanded Luas network proceeds without delay. The group will report directly to me and its reports will be published.

On 4 December last the consultancy firm of Arthur Andersen was appointed to advise my Department on a public private partnership approach to the light rail project.
