Vol. 498 No. 3

Written Answers - Medical Cards.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

124 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 will qualify for a medical card under the new regulations. [27077/98]

The determination of eligibility for medical card is the responsibilities of the chief executive officer of the appropriate health board. I, as Minister for Health and Children, do not have a function in the issue of medical cards to individuals. However. as the determination of eligibility of the person concerned rests with the chief executive officer of the Eastern Health Board I have asked him to have the matter investigated and to reply directly to the Deputy.
