Vol. 498 No. 4

Written Answers. - Naturalisation Applications.

Desmond J. O'Malley

Question:

397 Mr. O'Malley asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the names and addresses of the Irish citizens who provided character references for a person and eight others (details supplied) in County Meath and who were naturalised on 8 December 1990; if he will give the same information in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Dublin who was naturalised on 24 April 1995; if any of these ten people have ever resided in Ireland; and if they made declarations of loyalty and fidelity to the State in open court prior to their naturalisation. [27699/98]

It has been long standing practice in my Department that details of individual applications for naturalisation, apart from those which are published in Iris Oifigiúil, are treated as confidential and I do not intend to depart from that practice on this occasion.
