Vol. 498 No. 4

Written Answers. - Departmental Advertising.

Nora Owen

Question:

452 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of advertisements or notices seeking submissions, job applications and so on placed by his Department in any publication, either in Ireland or abroad; the nature of these advertisement or notices; the cost of each advertisement or notice; the name of the publication; and the sum expended by his Department on these activities from July 1997 to date. [27803/98]

The total amount spent by my Department on advertising from July 1997 to date is £291,900.

The Deputy will appreciate that my Department places advertisements on an extremely frequent basis, particularly concerning tenders for capital projects and for employment notices.

As such the compilation of a detailed breakdown by purpose of advertising would require an inordinate amount of time by my Department. If the Deputy requires details of a specific advert relating to a submission, job application and so on, I will ensure that the relevant details are forwarded to her.
