53 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if his attention has been drawn to the criticism expressed by development agencies of the Government's package on overseas development aid and the particular criticism that the recent budget failed to provide adequate funding for requirements in 1999; the amounts allocated for grant aid for development and funding for humanitarian assistance in 1999; the way in which these figures compare in percentage terms to the allocations for 1998; the percentage of GNP that will be represented by overseas development aid at the end of the three year package; if it is the intention to reach .45 per cent of GNP by 2002; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
