154 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Finance if he received a pre-budget submission and report from the Irish Thoroughbred Association; if so, if he has studied this report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28053/98]
I discussed the report with representatives of the association in November prior to the budget. Their report included proposals for funding of their development strategy under the next National Development Plan 2000-2006. While my Department is responsible for the overall strategic formulation of the plan it would be a matter for the Minister for Agriculture and Food who has responsibility for the horse industry sector to assess in the first instance the appropriateness of making provisions within that sector for the association's development strategy.
