106 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Finance the average 1998 value and vehicle registration tax paid on registration of a used motor vehicle and comparison figures for a new vehicle; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28139/98]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the information requested by the Deputy is set out below. The figures are based on an analysis of cars registered up to the end of October 1998 — 138,280 new cars and 31,708 used cars.
