Question:

108 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Finance the percentage of vehicle registration tax collected to date in 1998 on used vehicles compared to new vehicles; if he will give a breakdown of vehicle registration tax on engine size; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28141/98]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the gross amount of vehicle registration tax collected on a new and used cars registered up to the end of October 1998 amounts to approximately £478 million. The breakdown is as follows:
