Vol. 499 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

445 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive 1998 sheep and cattle headage and a suckler cow premium. [2027/99]

There is a problem on the area aid application of the person named due to the commonage shareholders cumulatively claiming an area in excess of the gross area of the commonage. All shareholders including the person named have been contacted requesting documentation to support their claims on the commonage. Until the area aid application is finalised, cattle and sheep headage cannot issue.

Paul Bradford

Question:

446 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will have his area aid problem resolved. [2029/99]

The area aid application of the person concerned has been processed. Payments will issue as soon as possible.

Michael Creed

Question:

447 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person (details supplied) in County Cork will have his previous application under the old installation scheme resurrected and approved for payment in view of the fact he cannot qualify due to the labour unit requirement under the new scheme. [2035/99]

My Department is currently assessing the situation of farmers affected by the closure of the earlier scheme of installation aid whose holding had a labour requirement of over three man work units and are therefore ineligible for the new scheme.
