Vol. 499 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Properties.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

460 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if, in relation to lands, properties, stocks or other valuables disposed by his Department since coming into office, he will outline to whom these were disposed and whether by tender, sale or other means; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2253/99]

Details of the only property-asset sold by my Department during the period in question are as follows: 3.906 hectares, folio 34387 of Department lands in County Limerick were sold by private treaty to Wyeth Nutritionals Ireland Limited, Askeaton, County Limerick.

During the same period more than 530 hectares were allotted to in excess of 60 allottees under the land acts. The power to determine the persons to be allotted Land Commission land and the price they should pay is reserved by law to the Lay commissioners and I have no function in the matter.
