538 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will provide funding to the Summerhill Active Retirement Group, County Meath, who are holding a major European conference in September 1999 in Summerhill to discuss all aspects and issues that affect the lives of older people; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Funding for events to be organised as part of the celebration of the International Year of Older Persons will be distributed by the National Steering Committee which was established to oversee the year and to whom I have given a financial allocation. Therefore, the Summerhill Active Retirement Group should apply to the National Steering Committee at 58 Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin 2, for financial assistance. An approach to the North-Eastern Health Board might also prove beneficial.
