Vol. 499 No. 1

Written Answers. - Accident and Emergency Services.

John Gormley

Question:

558 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Health and Children the average time patients admitted to the accident and emergency units during December 1998 at Beaumont, Tallaght and St. James's hospitals had to wait on trolleys; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1527/99]

Statistics on attendances at the accident and emergency departments of the major acute Dublin hospitals are collected, collated and furnished to my Department by the Eastern Health Board's steering group on accident and emergency services. These statistics do not routinely contain information regarding the average waiting time for patients on trolleys, or otherwise, who have been assessed as requiring hospital admission.

I have asked the hospitals referred to by the Deputy to furnish me with the information which he requires and as soon as this is to hand I will forward it to him immediately.
