Vol. 499 No. 1

Written Answers. - Health Care Funding.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

639 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of hospitals, health boards or other health institutions in respect of which he has received an indication regarding insufficiency of funding to meet requirements; if he has responded to or intends to respond to these needs in the year future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2198/99]

My officials are in the process of meeting health agencies in regard to service plans for 1999. The indications so far are that agencies should be in a position to maintain service levels and introduce developments scheduled for this year. Where issues arise in regard to the impact of technology, activity increases or pay awards etc., my Department will be working with the agencies to ensure that service levels are delivered within approved expenditure levels.
