Vol. 499 No. 1

Written Answers. - Housing Grants.

John Perry

Question:

676 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the problem that exists in relation to a new house grant for a person (details supplied) in County Donegal as a result of the contractor going out of business; if a favourable decision will be made in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1402/99]

As part of the Government's measures to improve tax administration, the payment of grants, such as new house grants, by public authorities, including Government Departments, is conditional on certain details being furnished of the contractors C2 or tax clearance certificate, which cannot be waived in any individual case. In this regard, additional information, to include contractor's taxation details, together with the application form which was returned to the applicant for completion on the 2 May 1997, is awaited.
