Vol. 499 No. 1

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Liam Aylward

Question:

680 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will increase the capital allocations for group water schemes and group sewerage schemes in the 1999 programmes to clear the applications under those schemes from rural towns and villages in County Kilkenny which are with his Department and have delayed the commencement of a number of projects and developments in those areas. [1434/99]

My Department's Estimates provision for the rural water programme 1999 amounts to over £28 million, an increase of 34 per cent on 1998 expenditure. I will shortly announce details of the 1999 programme, including the capital allocations to local authorities for group water and sewerage schemes. Approval of individual group schemes is a matter for authorities themselves within their block allocations.
