Vol. 499 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Aid.

John McGuinness

Question:

766 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if her Department will provide funding to make safe the access path to the dolmen site in County Carlow; if the car park facility can be upgraded or resurfaced as part of this work; and if her Department will discuss with local groups the further development of these sites as part of promoting a county tourism package for Carlow. [28343/98]

I assume that the Deputy is referring to Browneshill Dolmen. The upgrading of the access to that dolmen and the car park are included in our 1999 works programme for the region.

Discussions have taken place between officials of Dúchas, the heritage service of my Department, and representatives of local groups regarding the presentation of the site and my officials are available to discuss this issue further.
