Question:834 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform his views on the concerns raised in correspondence (details supplied) from the Hardwicke Street Tenants' Development Board. [1845/99]
Written Answers. - Liquor Licensing Laws.
I have been informed by the Garda authorities that the premises referred to has been under new management since December 1998, and currently has a public dance licence and music and singing licence only. It does not have a licence to sell alcohol.
The premises was inspected by a Garda inspector on 22 January 1999 as a result of a complaint made to the garda. No evidence was found of alcohol being sold on the premises. The only refreshments being sold were soft drinks.
A Garda inspector has been appointed to formally meet the proprietors of the venue. The inspector will be dealing with details of any complaints received and the proprietor's responsibility in running such a premises.
I can assure the Deputy that this matter will continue to receive the appropriate Garda attention.
