Vol. 499 No. 1

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

868 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will publish on an annual basis the projects which come under the aegis of his Department or any agency in receipt of funds from his Department which have been the beneficiary of lottery fund finance; if he will ensure that details of each lottery funded project will be made public by way of public advertisement in national and local newspapers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28324/98]

The subheads in the Education and Science group of Votes which will be national lottery funded have yet to be finalised prior to the publication of the Revised Book of Estimates. It is my intention to ensure that the beneficiaries of moneys from lottery funded subheads will be aware that the national lottery surplus is the source of the finance. Furthermore, I will ensure that the appropriate publicity in respect of lottery funded projects is made. It has been the practice to publish details of the beneficiaries of lottery funding from grant-in-aid subheads in the annual appropriation accounts.
