938 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received correspondence from a person (details supplied) in County Kildare in connection with the payment of fees for serving on VEC interview boards; if it is standard procedure to refuse payment to teachers who are in receipt of a State pension; if so, the ruling under which this applies; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The correspondence referred to by the Deputy has been received in my Department. The question of eligibility of a person for payment in respect of such work is not related to whether the person is in receipt of a State pension. My Department is currently clarifying the position with the VEC.
