Question:

1028 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science when construction work will conclude in respect of the girls second level school in Celbridge, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2216/99]

Construction of the school at Celbridge commenced at the beginning of August 1998 and the duration of the builder's contract is 12 months.

Question:

1029 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress in 1999 in respect of the provision of extra facilities at Scoil Dara, Kilcock, County Kildare; the development stage of the project; the remaining stages; the likely time required to finalise this; the date for commencement of site works; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2217/99]

Stage 3, developed sketch scheme, of architectural planning is due to be submitted by the school authorities shortly. Once this submission has been examined and if found satisfactory by the building unit in my Department, this project will proceed to stage 4, detailed design, of architectural planning. At this stage, I am not in a position to say when construction will commence. I would, however, point out that the provision of almost £60 million for post primary school building projects in this year's estimates, in comparison with £30 million in the 1997 budget, will enable me to proceed with a significantly increased number of projects.

Question:

1030 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to the provision of the extra facilities required at Maynooth post primary school, County Kildare; if his Department has received the necessary documentation in support of the application; the anticipated schedule for the meeting of these requirements having regard to the current developmental stages of the project and the remaining stages; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2218/99]

All the necessary documentation in support of this application has been submitted to the Department. The schedule of accommodation has been drawn up and a design team for the project has recently being approved. At this stage it is too early to say when construction will commence.

Question:

1031 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the proposals, if any, he has for meeting the requirements in terms of extra accommodation facilities at Confey College, Leixlip, County Kildare; the development stage at which the project now stands; the remaining stages to be completed; the time span needed to allow completion of all outstanding procedures prior to the initiation of site works; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2219/99]

Stage 5, bill of quantities, of architectural planning for the proposed extension to Confey College, Leixlip, is due in my Department shortly. Once this submission has been received from County Kildare VEC the question of invitation of tenders will then be considered. At this stage it is not possible to say when construction will commence. I would, however, point out that the provision of almost £60 million for post-primary school building projects in this year's Estimates, in comparison with £30 million in the 1997 budget, will enable me to proceed with a significantly increased number of projects.

Question:

1032 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the remaining developmental stages to be completed in respect of the project for provision of extra facilities at Scoil Mhuire, Clane, County Kildare; the full extent of the schedule of facilities proposed; the total pupil complement anticipated; the extent of the recreational requirements proposed; when work will be completed in the project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2221/99]

Stage 5, bill of quantities, is currently being examined by the building unit in my Department. Once this stage has been approved, consideration will be given to authorising the invitation of tenders in light of available capital resources. At this stage I cannot say when con struction will commence. I would, however, point out that the provision of almost £60 million for post-primary school building projects in this year's Estimates, in comparison with £30 million in the 1997 budget, will enable me to proceed with a significantly increased number of projects.

Question:

1033 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in regard to the provision of extra facilities at Scoil Ignad Ris, Naas, County Kildare; the full extent of the proposed schedule of accommodation; the developmental stages still to be completed; when final approval will issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2222/99]

The building unit in my Department is currently awaiting acceptance of a schedule of overall accommodation from the school authorities. Once this schedule has been approved the Department will be in a position to determine the accommodation needs of the school. At this early stage in the planning process, I am not in a position to say when construction will commence.

Question:

1034 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science his intentions in relation to provision of the extra facilities required at St. Mary's College, Naas, County Kildare; the full extent of the schedule proposed; the timetable for provision in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2223/99]

Stage 4/5, detailed design bill of quantities, are currently being examined by the technical staff in my Department. The invitation of tenders will be considered when these stages have been approved and in light of available capital resources. At this stage, it is not possible to say when construction will commence. I would, however, point out that the provision of almost £60 million for post primary school building projects in this year's Estimates, in comparison with £30 million in the 1997 budget, will enable me to proceed with a significantly increased number of projects.

1035 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science his proposals for the provision of facilities as required at St. Patrick's post primary school, Naas, County Kildare; the precise schedule of accommodation now proposed; the timescale for the provision in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2224/99]

A meeting was held recently in my Department between officials of the building unit, the County Kildare VEC and its design team to discuss the accommodation needs of the school. A formal decision in the matter will be conveyed to the VEC shortly. At this stage in planning, it is not possible to say when construction will commence.

Question:

1036 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the extent to which it is intended to upgrade and extend facilities at primary schools in North Kildare in 1999; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2226/99]

The compilation of the information sought by the Deputy would require an inordi nate amount of scarce staff resources which would have to be diverted from providing a service to schools in County Kildare. If the Deputy has a query about a particular school, I will be happy to provide the information. I would, however, point out to the Deputy that my colleague the Minister for Finance has ensured that the primary capital funding available in 1999 will be over double that in the 1997 budget.
