Vol. 499 No. 4

Written Answers. - Housing Loans.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

138 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the total value of housing loans issued to mortgage holders through local authorities at fixed interest rates; the value of loans redeemed each year for the past ten years; the current amount outstanding; and the interest rates payable to his Department for these loans. [3012/99]

Information in relation to the value of housing loans issued through local authorities at fixed interest rates, the amounts redeemed for the past ten years and the amounts outstanding is currently being compiled and will be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as possible. These loans were advanced through the local loans fund which is operated by the Office of Public Works under the aegis of the Minister for Finance. Interest on these loans is therefore payable to the local loans fund and not to my Department.
