26 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Taoiseach the number of requests for information to his Department under the Freedom of Information Act, 1997, which have been refused; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1732/99]

27 Mr. Quinn asked the Taoiseach the number of applications to his Department in 1998 under the Freedom of Information Act, 1997; the percentage of those applications from members of the public as opposed to public representatives; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1913/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 26 and 27 together.

Some 94 requests under the Freedom of Information Act, 1997, have been received in my Department between the commencement of the Act on 21 April 1998 and 22 January 1999. The breakdown is as follows:
