Vol. 499 No. 4

Written Answers. - Livestock Marts.

Ulick Burke

Question:

102 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the proposals, if any, he has to make further grants available for the new livestock mart at Gort, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2889/99]

In 1996 my Department approved the new livestock mart project at Gort for national and FEOGA grant aid totalling £623,788 on foot of an overall eligible investment of £1.559 million. To date aid amounting to £504,764 has been paid to Gort. I understand that a claim for payment of the third and final instalment of aid is expected from the mart shortly.
