Vol. 499 No. 5

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Phil Hogan

Question:

127 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Education and Science if a person (details supplied) in Kilkenny will be included in a scheme to have the intermediate certificate examination performed by tape; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3109/99]

My Department received an application for special arrangements at the 1999 junior certificate examination on behalf of the candidate named by the Deputy. The authorities of the school that he is attending made the application.

The school concerned was notified of the decision in relation to this student on 14 January 1999. In the event that the school or parents are not satisfied with the decision, they have a right of appeal in the special arrangements appeals committee. The procedure for appeal was brought to the school's attention in that letter.
