Question:

87 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Health and Children the suicide rates per 100,000 of the population for each county for each of the years 1997 and 1998. [3079/99]

The information requested by the Deputy is set out in the following table. Data on mortality are routinely published in the annual and quarterly reports on vital statistics complied by the Central Statistics Office. As the most recent figures available refer to the third quarter of 1998, the annualised rates provided below in respect of 1998 are calculated based on deaths registered in the January to September period.
