Vol. 500 No. 1

Written Answers - Allergy Treatment.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

216 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children his Department's policy, if any, on the treatment of allergies, in particular petro-chemical allergies; if all allergies can be treated in the State; if not, if he will make arrangements for treatment to be offered to sufferers of petro-chemical allergies; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3464/99]

I am not aware that specific treatment for petro-chemical allergies is available in public hospitals. However, patch testing for allergies in general is provided in dermatology clinics at public hospitals where further more specialised referral, where appropriate, can be arranged.
