Vol. 500 No. 1

Written Answers - Farm Retirement Scheme.

John Perry

Question:

123 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person (details supplied) in County Sligo will have a farm retirement pension payment made for the period April to June 1994 in view of the fact that he applied on 25 April 1994 and he has legal ownership of the farm since 1962; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3172/99]

Under the terms and conditions of the scheme of early retirement from farming payment of the pension is made from the date of receipt of a valid application. A valid application is an application accompanied by all the necessary documents indicating that all the conditions for payment have been met as approved by an authorised officer of the Minister. In this case the application was lodged in the local Farm Development Service office on 25 April 1994. However, the application could not be processed as the accompanying documentation was incomplete. The outstanding documentation was lodged on 24 June 1994 and payment was authorised from that date.
