Vol. 500 No. 1

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

Jim Higgins

Question:

124 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo who is living in a district electoral division which was eligible for the livestock fodder scheme has still not received payment. [3173/99]

To qualify under the 1998 winter fodder scheme a producer must have a herd number in on of the designated DEDs. The DEDs were designated on the basis of an examination by Teagasc of areas most affected by the bad weather. The herd number referred to by the Deputy is not in any of the designated DEDs. Therefore, the person named was not entitled to payment under the 1998 winter fodder package. As the Deputy is aware, a new fodder scheme has now been agreed by the Government, details of which are being finalised and will be announced shortly.

Michael Ring

Question:

125 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food to confirm when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be paid 1998 headage and premia. [3184/99]

Under the 1998 ewe premium scheme the person named applied for payment on 38 sheep. She has a quota of ten rights and payment of the first and second advance was made in respect of that number on 19 June 1998 and 22 October 1998, respectively. Payment of 1998 sheep headage, including top-up, was made to the person named in respect of 38 sheep on 13 January 1999. The person named was not an applicant under the cattle schemes.
