Vol. 500 No. 2

Written Answers. - Installation Aid Scheme.

Ivan Yates

Question:

139 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the restriction of three man work units as a ceiling on eligibility for the agricultural installation aid rules out many dairy farmers from participation in the scheme; and if he will consider some relaxation of this ceiling. [3789/99]

The upper limit of three man work units set in the national scheme of installation aid enables a young qualified dairy farmer with up to 48 dairy cows to avail of the aid. As the scheme is focused on those farmers most in need of assistance, the upper limit in place is considered reasonable.
