Vol. 500 No. 2

Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Michael Lowry

Question:

147 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the staffing levels for REP scheme inspections in Tipperary North and South; if further appointments will be made; if so, when this will occur; and if the current staffing situation is causing undue delay in processing applications. [3798/99]

The current staffing situation in County Tipperary is causing delay in the processing of applications. A vacancy for a REPS inspector in County Tipperary will be filled shortly and I expect that this will help improve the situation in both parts of the county.

My Department keeps the staffing situation in all areas under constant review. Available staffing resources will continue to be used to best effect to meet the day-to-day needs of farmers in all sectors.
