Vol. 500 No. 2

Written Answers. - Health Board Services.

Tony Gregory

Question:

159 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health and Children if his Department or the Eastern Health Board will make a once off interim grant available to a group (details supplied) for recovering heroin addicts in view of its special circumstances. [3871/99]

The provision of funding for drug treatment services in the Eastern Health Board is a matter for the Eastern Health Board in the first instance.

However, I understand from the Eastern Health Board that the group in question received a grant of £1,026.50 from the board in January, paid via the Inner City Organisation Network to secure a premises. The Eastern Health Board in granting this funding explained to the group that any further funding was contingent on the board receiving detailed proposals of the group's rehabilitation programme for its consideration. I understand from the Eastern Health Board that no submission in this regard has yet been received from the group.
