172 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the amount of money her Department has directly or indirectly spent on the use and promotion of the Irish language in each of the past five years; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3859/99]

I refer the Deputy to the Appropriation Accounts of my Department which are published annually. Copies of the 1994 to 1997 annual reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General and Appropriation Accounts are available in the Oireachtas Library. The 1998 report and accounts will be published in due course.
