Austin Deasy

Question:

96 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will grant approval to the Holy Cross school, Ballycarnane, Tramore, County Waterford, for the provision of additional accommodation to allow it to cater for the continued increase in pupils and to alleviate the overcrowding; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1458/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 53 and 96 together.

An application for the provision of additional accommodation at Holy Cross national school, Tramore, County Waterford, was lodged with my Department in late November 1998. An examination of the application, which also involves a review of the overall school accommodation situation in the centre, is being carried out by the planning section of my Department. The school will be contacted on the matter when the examination is completed. I have asked that this be done as speedily as possible.
