Vol. 500 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

134 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Education and Science if an immediate investigation will be made into the possibility of re-opening a primary school at Johnstown, Navan, County Meath, to cater for the many new houses already built and are in the process of being built in this rapidly expanding area over the next five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4721/99]

I am aware that the Johnstown area of Navan, County Meath is experiencing population growth due to significant housing developments. I have asked the planning section of my Department to carry out a review of the primary school accommodation requirements in the general Navan area. When this review is completed, a decision will be made as to whether additional school facilities are required.
