Vol. 501 No. 1

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Michael Ring

Question:

158 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs if a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be approved for disability allowance in view of the fact he has undergone a triple heart bypass operation. [5472/99]

The person concerned has been in receipt of disability benefit since 14 January 1999 at a weekly personal rate of £70.50 and £41.20 per week qualified adult allowance. He applied for invalidity pension on 9 February 1999. While he satisfies the contribution conditions for receipt of invalidity pension he has been requested to furnish medical evidence from his doctor to determine his medical eligibility to this payment. On receipt of this information, his entitlement to invalidity pension will be considered and he will be informed of the outcome.
