Vol. 501 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

John Perry

Question:

182 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the overcrowding at Baile An Leig national school, Beltra, County Sligo, where the pupil numbers have dramatically increased and will continue to grow; the plans, if any, in place to provide the much needed classroom; the amount of money allocated; when the funds will be made available; when the work will commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5415/99]

An application has been received from the manager of Ballinleg national school, Beltra, County Sligo for grant aid towards additional accommodation. My Department wrote to the manager on 1 February 1999 advising him of the schools long-term accommodation requirements and indicating that arrangements have been made for an architect to visit the school. When the architects report is received, the case will be progressed further. At this stage it is too early to outline the capital funds required or when works will commence.
