Vol. 501 No. 1

Written Answers. - Company Registration.

Ivor Callely

Question:

80 Mr. Callely asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if a company (details supplied) in Dublin 1 is or was an Irish or a foreign registered company; the principal activity of the company; the directors of the company; and if the annual report and statement of accounts were lodged in accordance with the Companies Acts, 1963 to 1990. [5347/99]

I take it that the Deputy's question relates to Repsol Limited – Company No: 53466 – which was registered in Ireland on 3 December, 1975 and has its registered office at 30 Gardiner Place, Dublin 1.

The Registrar of Companies has informed me that the principal objects for which the company was established are: (a) to engage in and carry on business as printers, publishers, and distributors, whether by wholesale or retail, of newspapers, magazines, digests, reviews, books, booklets, pictorials, pamphlets, leaflets and posters; (b) to carry on business as linotypers, typesetters, platemakers, lithographers, photographers, enlargers, photocopiers, die stampers, and photo engravers; (c) to engage in the business of preparing, producing, recording and transmitting programmes under license either by radio or television and (d) to lease, hire, purchase, sell or otherwise deal in all kinds of printing, photographic and lithographic machines, gear or other apparatus.

The last annual return received from the company related to the period up to 10 February 1989. The company has been in default ever since. The registrar is progressively striking off the register those companies which are more than two years in arrears with their returns.

The listed directors of the company in its last annual return were: Michael Ryan, 56 Caledon Road, Raheny, Dublin 5; Sean Garland, 30 Gardiner Place, Dublin 1; Tomas MacGiolla, 53 South Avenue, Mount Merrion, Dublin and Cathal Goulding, 15 Cadogan Road, Fairview, Dublin 3. The company secretary is recorded as Seamus Harrison, 30 Gardiner Place, Dublin 1.

The Deputy will be aware that all information from the Companies Registration Office may be inspected during normal office hours on payment of a small fee.
