Question:85 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will provide finance for a band (details supplied) in County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5371/99]

The band in question applied for a grant to the cultural relations committee of the Department. The application was fully considered at the committee's meeting of 22 October 1998, but funding was not recommended. The funds available for the promotion of Irish culture abroad are limited, and the committee is not able to make a positive recommendation in all cases.
