Vol. 501 No. 2

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business, I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Naughten. I now call on Deputy Naughten to state the matter of which he has given notice to me.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to discuss an issue of vital national importance, namely the refusal by EUROSTAT of the Government's application for Objective One status and the need for the Government in the light of this decision to publish the correspondence received from EUROSTAT and the application that was submitted to EUROSTAT and the need for the Government to immediately reapply for Objective One status for the west, midlands and Border regions with proper regional structures in place.

Having considered the matter fully I do not consider it to be one contemplated by Standing Order 31. Therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.
